About the Research Dissemination Articles in This Website

Articles published in this space are on new materials, optoelectronic devices, and renewable energy technologies relevant at different degrees to our research. Readers will find short comments on solar devices, nanomaterials, nanosensors, quantum devices, as well as science of solar energy technologies, such as advanced photovoltaics, and solar desalination. Some of the articles are intended to share ideas of practical importance, that are connected to our research, present and past.

The intention is mostly education and student engagement in an open forum, as well as dissemination of research outcomes connected to our projects. Comments from interested readers are welcome, they will add new insights on problems being discussed. Readers could use the Contact Forms to send their comments. Sponsorship and support for our students is always welcome, as it will enable us furthering our studies and contributing in technology development. Prospective students interested in doing research in a specific topic in one of my research fields, are welcome to contact me.

Discussed topics in the broad area of renewable energy are among active research. Some of these topics are truly challenging, such as the increase of solar cell efficiency, which is still much below theoretical prediction. Some theories indeed predict up to three times higher efficiency than the best of today's silicon cell ! The legitimate dream of 40% to 60% conversion efficiency using affordable technologies and the abundant silicon will bring paradise on earth. I truly believe that it will happen soon, within the next 1.5 to 2 decades. But, I fear that is going to be a bit late for solving the gas emission problem and preventing catastrophic effects of the Global Warming, which led to the strong Weather Rapid Disturbances that we have been seeing.

As far as the dissemination is concerned, I have chosen topics that are either within the public debate of the day, or inspired from recent discoveries, or a pertinent renewable energy project,... They are either overlapping with my current research areas, or have been, at one point, the focus of my research and are still dear to me for they have strong impact on our well being.

For simplicity, the papers in this internet space have been limited to qualitative aspects of the debated subject. While I endeavor to nurture new ideas and to provide objective statements, I continue to rely on scientific data to support my opinions. However, because of the intended dissemination character of these articles and the targeted audience, a limited number of scientific papers have been cited.

Another goal of these simplified articles is to engage prospective students and other interested parties in some useful debate, and possibly to come-up with new perspective to the debated issues. Students interested in doing research on any of the topics presented in this space are welcome to contact me through emails. Sponsors are invited to direct our attention to subject matters of interest to them, in the above areas.
